“There are no words to describe the loss of Ventura as a best friend and bandmate. The only way I could grieve him and move forward was to let my part of writing this album speak the unspeakable through the composition I contributed. During the writing process, I remembered something my friend Chris Goss said to me at Rancho De La Luna…’when you’re in the studio, there’s only enough room for one ego; the ego of the song.’ This album was about just that…killing the ego, serving the music, and as a band searching for something collectively cosmic and timeless.”

Most of the kids playing instruments in the parades began their musical careers in school.
That's what is motivating a band touring through Butte tonight to donate instruments to local schools. Los Angeles band “Black Lodge” has chosen at this stop Butte High School to receive an electric guitar signed by all the band members. "What we've seen over the years,” says guitarist Johnny Royal, “Is that music education in schools and creativity has gotten their budgets cut and a lot studies have shown that you know kids that grow up playing actually develop their intellects further and go on to get better careers." |
